Good Marketing Lecturer / professor

This is about conducting research and publishing research papers by marketing lecturers / Professors at Business Schools across the Globe-

Kindly voice in your thoughts here ---

A recent article in a leading business magazine[in their Business School rankings] pointed out that in certain Globally renowned Business Schools lecturers/professors tend to compromise on their lectures and students for their research interests.....ofcourse for their career advancement.

Do you think a marketing lecturer can be good if only he is good  in publications ????

Can't somebody be a good marketing lecturer without publishing ????   of course conducting research to know about customers and the market may be important...????  but how does publishing his research help a person to become a good marketing lecturer ????

To me a good marketing lecturer is beyond research publications.  A lecturer who is good in publishing might not be a good lecturer at all???  and vice versa....

please pen down your thoughts here on the above to the benefit of thousands of Business School students across the globe...atleast from now on  marketing lecturers should concentrate on providing more value for the money spent by their students.

[the above points are not intended to hurt anybody and it does not refer to any particular individual.  This discussion pertains only to the subject -  marketing and may not be relevant to other subjects or topics,., so contributors should keep this in mind while putting down their thoughts here]

  1. I dont believe that a good paper presenter will be a good teacher. According to my view good teacher will be the one who who have the capability to explore the knowledge what they have. Paper publication is just acquiring the knowledge and not exploring the knowledge.

  2. I agree with you. One of my finance professor published a very good paper and got an international reorganization in 2007; however, most students do not like even to come to his class. He was missing many skills such as communication, body language, organizing ideas, explaining the main idea with enough details. Many students prefer to ask him in his office than in the class.
